adson
I'm usually just a lurker on this boardbut I thought this group would find this of concern. Recently a member of another board that I follow( over at the "reel-time" kayak forum ) was given a ticket becausehe did not have a Winthrop sticker for his kayak.he has been told that the fee is $100 for use of the waterways in Winthrop. not a ramp fee or beach feebut a waterways fee. has anyone here run into this one before ? Linda
So the "Wateway Fees" is a hoax? Thanks for the official link.Linda
Brian Nystrom
I find it very hard to believe that a town could legally put a "toll booth" on the ocean.
adson
no I don't think this is a hoax based on the story behind it. although it is starting to sound like the harbormaster overstepped his authority purely out of frustration at being called to check on a report of a kayak in trouble when he would rather be off the water. as far as I know they are still threatening a $50 ticket unless he buys the $100 town sticker.
