glil
Anyone know if there is parking and access to the water in Rye Harbor in winter? Thanks, Gay
gerry s
I don't know about Rye Harbor specifically but I was out last Monday and there were cars parked at the Odiorne bridge (unplowed in winter) and I drove around the Rye State Park also unplowed but manageable so the harbor area is most likely accessible. Seacoast NH has about 6-8" of hard packed snow thanks to the last rain. Peirce Island in Portsmouth is plowed in winter so that's always an option. Pintail
It is some time (years?) since I have paddled out of Rye in winter; but there used to be unlimited access, free parking and no one in attendance, as I recollect...go for it! You are correct. The state boat ramp was very convenient with plenty of parking and no fee off season. The adjacent state park just slightly north would also have been good.
