Riverhead Solstice Paddle, Sunday, June 24th

Recommended Posts

Depart Riverhead Beach in Marblehead at 10:30 am and head out to Childrens, then over to the Gooseberries, around Bakers, and over to Misery. Return to Riverhead via Eagle and a trip through Dolibers Cove. Approximate distance 12NM depending how much we stop to play along the way, we will be looking for fun spots, rocks/surf etc. as we go. This is a solid level 3 to 3+ depending on conditions. Low tide is at 1:13 pm. This paddle will take place in conjunction with the NSPN solstice paddles so that we can join in the pot luck after paddle party. This is a private trip open to everyone, you are responsible for yourself and for the consequences of the decisions you make.

Please post interest here.

We're there. Bob will be in the Pintail -- I think -- unless I'm in the Pintail and he's in the Tempest (that'll be the day).

Poor Bluetooth took a nose dive off the car Friday while I was removing her. I now know what Welsh Fibreglass looks like. Luckily, she's gone to hospital for some plastic surgery, Dr. Ladd in RI operating.

Therefore, the infamous Pinkster may put in an appearance, unless I take the Vela out for one last goodbye spin before she goes up for sale.

I take it 10:30 is butt in boats time.

Sorry about "Bluetooth", I am sure that the repairs will be as good as new.

As for the boat for the trip, I would love to see the Vela out for one last trip.

Galen,

Bring the family, at least for the picnic afterwards. This is always my favorite NSPN event. Good paddling with great food afterwards.

The potluck can't be rivaled as NSPN paddlers tend to be good cooks.

Wish I could join you all!

Hi Page,

The current forecast for Sunday is for air temps in the mid to upper 70's. Water temp will be right around 60. Most of us have put up the dry suits for the season, and are now in our farmer john/jane with a paddling jacket as needed. It is definitely your call to suit your comfort needs. For additional info on what to bring, you may use the following as a guideline.
