EEL Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 What with all the interest in night/moonlight/meteor shower paddling this summer, does anyone have experience and/or opinion about using these in lieu of the usual chemical glow sticks? I have seen mention in other places of their use for night kayaking. http://www.garritylites.com/site/retail_details.php?recid=87 Ed Lawson Quote
Bill Gwynn Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 I haven't seen them before, but for $1.99 at the local Walgreens, I will be picking one up to check out. Quote

Kevin B (RPS Coach) Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 I used these before when guiding and they were fairly decent. I don't think they were quite as bright as the standard glow stick, but the difference seemed minimal given the advantage of being reusable. Quote
Bill Gwynn Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 I went Walgreens, but they didn't have any, and never heard of them. Quote
subaruguru Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 Googling them resulted in several vendors (inc ROTC!) who sell only in bulk, WITH PERSONALIZED LOGO, at less than $150 for 50. ($2.54ea, +sh).Group purchase with NSPN.ORG logo? Freebie incentive for new (paid) members? Automatically sent to ALL members upon renewal? And a second for helmet? Get even a bit cheaper in the hundreds.Photo seems to show a pocket-clip as well as lanyard. Quote
