Two names, one factory. Long story.

...which was in turn bought by Brunton, the current manufacturer of these compasses. The design of the dial has changed a bit over the years, but they all mount and fit the same. I found out that Brunton will honor the warranty on Silva and Nexus compasses, so if you have one that springs a leak or becomes discolored, contact them. They replaced a pair of compasses for me a couple of years ago.
