Posted September 20, 20168 yr It's time for replacing my gaskets. Does anyone have experience with the "Coast Guard" neck and wrist gaskets. i.e. fit, comfort, and durability versus the standard replacement? Kokatat offers this option.
September 21, 20168 yr You should ask Bill Voss. He just got two drysuits (hit the delamination jackpot twice at the same time!) and had CG gaskets put on I think. He was talking about them st Walden last week. peu
September 21, 20168 yr I've had the CG gaskets on the wrist and just replaced all with CG gaskets. Seems like a heavier latex. Unlike the standard gaskets, CG gaskets for the wrists are designed to be trimmed. For my wrists I actually didn't need to which gave a large contact area and very dry seal. For me they were much more comfortable than the standard large size gasket. best Phil
September 21, 20168 yr I've only ordered a suit with CG gaskets, but it has not arrived yet. Some people swear by them, so I thought I would try one of my replacement suits with them.
September 21, 20168 yr I've been using them for 10 years. I don't trim them and they are more comfortable for me. I will bring them to the Newbury Kayak Sept 25 - 2-5 event (listed in events/commercial) and you can try the CG "thick" gaskets on. Maybe you will be the lucky one that wins the replacement gasket! September 21, 20168 yr Bob and I both have USCG gaskets. Carl Ladd at OSKA replaced ours, and he's the best.

The latest iteration was done by Kokatat when I sent the suit back for repair and pressure testing this summer. Previous wrist gaskets were done by a friend who's already posted here. ;-) best Phil
