Nancy Hill
Some of us have paddled past and around Allen and Benner Islands in Muscongus Bay. Both Islands have been purchased by Colby College. Interesting. Read more here: https://www.artnews.com/art-news/news/colby-college-andrew-wyeth-maine-islands-1234617910/
gyork
As a one-time Colby student, do you think they will extend an invite to me and 9 of my artistic friends to camp there for 3 nites?
Doug Cooke
This is pretty interesting evolution of those islands. It would be great if an area was open for no impact camping.
gyork
I've forwarded the article to our MITA friends for consideration.
John
Let's hope MITA and Colby come to an agreement. It would be great to have those islands added to the Maine Island Trail... JH
EEL
Given how close Burnt I. is to Allen, I wonder if MITA would pursue this. Burnt I. is nice and the process to stay there is not onerous. That said, I get the point not being free in July and August is an issue and another reasonable camping island on the east side of Muscongus would be nice.
