    New lunch and learn event for May 1 at 12:00. John Huth is doing his Weather by the seat of your pants lecture. I know many of this have seen this but it is worth revisiting on a regular basis.     When i first posted the lunch and learn session for tomorrow was cancelled. I just got an email stating it is on. Tomorrow 12 - 1 lunch and learn is on expedition paddling

    In case you haven't seen this, MITA has been doing lunch and learn sessions via Go to Meeting. I attended last Friday on a talk given by Doug Welch on his recent trip to the Galapagos. It was a good presentation and worked seamlessly (once they got it up and running) On Wednesday April 22 the topic is Each Day with EcoMaine. On Friday April 24th the topic is Seaweed Foraging and Pressing with Maine Sea Grant. Lectures are form 12 - 1.

    MCHT has created a collection from poets, artists etc about their love of Maine. It’s called Voices from the Coast. Saw this on Facebook today. MCHT a will be posting once a week. That’s the way it is here; sometimes the wind says, “Shiver,” and we shiver; sometimes I make a shopping list, but if the snow says, “Stay,” we clean the cupboard and make soup. When we came home, and found the tide over the road and into the alders, I didn’t mind. The water rose quietly, and when it ebbed and we passed, we went quietly. That’s the way it is here, sometimes, and then we remember that it is no small thing, to live in a holy place.

    CABIN FEVER PARTY SATURDAY JANUARY 25, 2020 GOULD BARN, TOPSFIELD, MA It's time to turn our thoughts to NSPN's annual winter bash. We will again be at the Gould Barn. This year's party will have a total emphasis on food, drink and socializing! We gave the raffle a break last year; but, IT”S BACK !!! Bring yourselves, a plus one (or two!) if you like, money, fabulous food (and a beverage of your choice, adult or otherwise) and enjoy the company of your fellow (and gal!) paddlers. We want to invite any of our artistic members, coaches and paddling professionals, and members to contribute to the raffle. The proceeds will be donated to MITA and MCHT The party begins at 6 pm, preceded by the annual business meeting at 5 pm, where members will have a chance to hear about the past year, the financial status of the club, and initiatives the BOD is considering. This is the time where members will be able to weigh in with ideas about how to make our club even better going forward. Bring your ideas and enthusiasm for our club! Our president, Rob Folster, will be posting separately about the annual meeting. Let us know if you're coming and what you’ll be bringing! We'll be posting a sign up for the potluck closer to the date. Please let us know if you are coming on the calendar. Jane and the NSPN Board

    Seven of us met on at the Bethal Point Launch for a, designed to be, leisurely 12 mile paddle to Malaga Island. A most remarkable day; as in there was virtually NO wind. We left Bethal Point and headed to the Basin on an incoming tide. We saw lots of boiling fish that I presume were menhaden. Also saw a few seals and heard splashing around so we stopped to watch. And, much to our surprise we saw a seal breach. None of us had ever seen anything like it so we hung around and watched it happen several more times. Then on into the Basin with a nice push form the tide. Not so on the way out as not only was the tide against us but the only wind of the day was too. From the Basin we headed into the breeze and tide for Malaga and lunch I spotted these mushrooms and we saw this eagle. And, we saw our seal friend again. After lunch we headed to Yarmouth Island and had a favorable tide to go through the cut. So rare in Maine, flat calm sea where usually you at least get rollers from the Gulf of Maine - no sea - not wind= hot padding Anyway, it was a great day, planned as a L2 and conditions were such that it could have almost been an L1

    No one has signed up on the colander for today. Since that a new system just wondering if anyone is going. Also maybe no one signed up because of the weather. Supposed to be rainy by the PM I’ll go if anyone else wants to go
