  1. Twitter feed will tell you if pond is open, but not if there's room to park at boat launch. Seems that they've put in more handicapped parking spaces, decreasing available spots more. Also, as for closing thus far this year, schools not closed yet and weather - as we know from challenges getting out on ocean - has not been terribly inviting. I'd be very happy to be wrong going forwars. But still, anyone up for mornings at Walden?!
  2. I'd be interested but the major problem is parking in the afternoon. And it likely doesn't have to be very hot day for that to be the case. I'd be delighted to do morning (as early as possible!) sessions, and would be a regular attendee in the morning. Too many times folks arrived in afternoon to find they couldn't get in…. Thursday morning would be great.
  3. On a really nice summer wknd, may not be the best spot for a large group for reasons Joe gives above. There isn't a large area for unloading and then boats have to be stashed where they won't be in way of folks backing big power boats into the water.
  4. I know that there will be weeks that Joe is not available for WLP. As I have in previous years, I will be happy to fill in and organize/post. Unfortunately not this week as I will be away. Joe, if you know in advance when you know you'll be away on a Wednesday, let me know so I'll know to be taking over posting. I will also plan - as I have in the past - to post various weekend paddles, and some weekday, at my favorite venues - Lanes, Odiorne, Granite Pier etc. Prudence
  5. Bummer. Can,t make it Thurs. if anything changes I,ll sign up.
  6. What a nice day it was! Thank you for organizing, Jim.
  7. There is no post anymore on how to add pictures bc it was out of date. Happy to walk you through it if you want to give me a call tmrw. It's very easy.
  8. It will be great to see you, Andy! It's been too long!
  9. In my next life I'll cook up delicious camping meals such as those I've seen and envied others making on many a camping trip or expedition. Alas, I am still in this life and so sticking with pouring boiling water into Good to Go meals is what I do. So…Jet Boil all the way!
  10. Thanks, Jim. I've been there before but hadn't kept directions so didn't remember exactly where it was!
  11. I wanna go…weather permitting. Unfortunately current long range forecast calls for rain that day ?.
  12. I'm in for Friday and will fill in float plan stuff when I'm at computer (it doesn't work on an iPad ?). Jim, is there a more precise address for the launch than “York Harbor”? Thanks. Prudence
  13. I may be interested. Will know for sure one way or other as week progresses…
  14. Eight of us celebrated what I just confirmed was the 10th Annual scheduled EBP…although over the years some were celebrated in a restaurant when conditions weren't favorable, and one (last year) was canceled altogether because bad weather kept us off the water and the @#$&* pandemic kept us out of restaurants. This year, bright blue sky, some wind and brisk temperatures made for a lovely paddle out and around Tinker's Island from Riverhead Beach. But for the first time, we didn't live up to the name. Not one person plunged! We all stayed warm and comfy in our boats. But in a sense, that is a mark of the success of previous such paddles. In 2013, five of us ventured out on Easter to test our cold water gear…and our mettle…by doing a lot of in-water exercises…rescues, swimming boats to shore and so on. Over the years, EBP's, cold water workshops and other events and experiences have gotten many of us comfortable and confident in what to wear and bring with us…so on this particular beautiful day, we were all happy to Just Paddle! Thanks to Rob Folster - who organized the first Easter paddle, before it had a name and a history - for organizing once again; and Cathy Folster, David Mercer, Fred Goodman, Jim Connors, Mike Habich and Joe Berkovitz…for such a lovely day on the water!
