    Hi Paul,

I used to race the six-mile event because the start and finish are in the same place.

Long time no see. I do most of my paddling in southeast FL now.

Paul, a quick read of the race packet indicates the 3 and 6 mile races are loops. Parking info towards the back.

  2. I've just signed up to volunteer on the water at the upcoming Run of the Charles paddling race. Was curious to see if any other NSPN paddlers would either be participating in the kayak race or volunteering with me. I'll be at the BU bridge on the Cambridge side to keep an eye out for the relay participants.

Curiosity piqued? Check out details here: https://www.crwa.org/events/runofthecharles

  3. Hey all. Who's down to take advantage of the weather forecasted for Saturday and go for a paddle around the Back River and other spots in the area? Would look to meet in the parking lot at the Weymouth boat ramp (Carven Sr. State boat ramp on NOAA chart) at 9:00 am and launch around 9:30 pm. I believe they are not collecting parking/launching fees now that we are past Indigenous Peoples weekend. We may get lucky and the portapotties will still be around but in a pinch there are bathrooms down the road at Webb Memorial State Park.

I’m bummed - i hoped my neck would cooperate and improve over the course of the day but it has not.  I hope someone can take my place.

Have a great day and sorry not to join you!

    Feel better Karen!

  5. Thanks to all who've been able to pitch in! Together we've reached over my fundraising goal and are truly helping a great organization enable more to join us out on the water. If you haven't had a chance to donate yet, please consider chipping in what you can to help All Out Adventures reach their event goal of $60k. 6. Have been too busy the past few weeks to get this posted. I will be kayaking 5 miles on the Connecticut River on Sunday, September 10 in support of the 15th Annual All Out Adventures Kayak-a-thon!  All Out Adventures is a Northampton, MA based nonprofit organization that facilitates about 180 outdoor recreation program each year throughout Massachusetts for veterans, seniors, and people with disabilities and their loved ones.  Through adaptive equipment, and high-trained staff, All Out Adventures works to break down barriers to participation in outdoor recreation.  Funds raised from the Kayak-a-thon support AOA's efforts to continue to provide these programs at no or low cost so that people of all ages and abilities can participate, regardless of financial means.

Please consider donating via my fundraising page at : https://alloutadventures.app.neoncrm.com/mouseydew

    or

Would love if some might be able to participate: https://alloutadventures.app.neoncrm.com/np/clients/alloutadventures/eventRegistration.jsp?event=8614&

Will do my best to capture some video footage while paddling to share at the Fall gathering.

  7. Joyce and I had a lovely time joining about a dozen other paddlers led by the UMass Lowell Kayak Center along the Merrimack River. We were fortunate that lightning and storm clouds left the area so we could launch our boats. My favorite part was paddling through a short section of channelized river tributary by the light of our bow lights and then noticing the stone work with some added help from my phone's light. Even had my dad along for the adventure. I hope I can return and do a longer exploration of the channel system by daylight soon. It was refreshing to see such a robust and vibrant place after an early spring visit to purchase my current kayak. Really hope that a few for whom it was their first time or two on the water have caught the bug. Highly recommend getting out with this group if you have the opportunity!
