More specifically, why does it turn right on a left edge and left on a right edge. Perhaps everyone understands this, but I don't understand the physics behind this.
i understand you're causing a shorter profile, and that profile is curved, but I can't make the connection from there.
Can someone enlighten me?

Congratulations to the newest crop of 5 Stars: Robert Folster, Gerry Polinsky and Jennifer Yearley.
It may now be called Advanced Sea Kayak Leader, but they earned their stars!

Robert and I will be there.
We can bring 3 extra pfd's, 2 extra spray skirts, 2 bilge pumps and 2 boats.

Sounds good - I like the idea of the moving classroom.

I plan to be there!

I'd like to encourage everyone - especially newer paddlers to take advantage of this FREE opportunity being provided as a benefit to NSPN members. You don't have to be an experienced paddler and you don't have to have any prior leadership experience. It's a great way to spend a cold, snowy Saturday in February. Come inside where it's warm and work on your paddling mojo!

Thank you everyone for a great trip. I was looking for any excuse not to go because it is cold and I'm tired and it's a lot of work, and, and, and. But I forced myself because I've always been glad once I'm on the water, and this time was no exception. Trips are made better by great paddling buddies -and this was a fun group-thanks for being on the water!
The mesmerizing sky and sea, and the calls of the loons along with it being the day after New Years made it a very contemplative paddle-at least on the outbound leg. The return was just enough water movement to make you have to mostly pay attention.
it was great to launch from this normally inaccessible beach -sorry about the length of carry!
Looking forward to next year!

I'd like to still launch from Good Harbor because you don't get to launch from there very often. I'm fine with going north or south from there.
Ooops, forgot to add - I am now free to go - no work for me!

Anyone up for eggplant, sky, ocean, mantis or lichen?

Anyone else want pink?

Me too, me too!

Thank you for this report, your best so far. You moved me to tears (of happiness). It is a beautiful reminder of why we do this.

I'll be there!

L: 7am
H: 1:15pm
Put in at Fort Popham around 11 am (yes, we know it's flooding at that time).
Intention is for a late day to catch the ebb in the afternoon. Play in whatever current, surf and rocks are around, but hoping for wind opposing the ebb.
Off water will be late - around 5 or 6 or so.
Interested parties please email me at cathy folster at Verizon. Net. We will be looking for people with paddling experience and skills appropriate for the venue.
Why does a Kayak turn?

Been continuing to think about this and wondering if it's more about what your body is doing than the boat profile presented to the water. Maybe combo of both.
