  1. I'm planning on coming, likely about 5:30 or 6 (driving from Somerville after work at 5).
  2. I think I'll pass, rather than slow the group down and make it into a shorter trip. Have fun!
  3. If a trip ends up happening that's less than 16 miles, I'd be interested. Maybe 2 trips?
  4. Great! I'll be there. Blue Eclipse, silver Honda CRV.
  5. I'd love to paddle, but would prefer something starting a little later with a little less distance than the Boston Harbor trip you posted. (I'm a level 2-3 paddler as far as skills go, but closer to 2 as far as distance and speed go.)
  6. Looks like I'm not going to be able to make it.
  7. I'd like to join up with the L2+ trip. Carolyn
  8. Hi Barry, Thanks! I'm actually most worried about the current right by Deer Island. Does it get better closer to Boston Harbor? I'm also thinking about going out and around. Carolyn
  9. Does anyone have suggestions for the easiest/safest way to get from Winthrop to any of the Harbor Islands? Is it possible to get there at a level 1+/2-? (The channel by Deer Island is too difficult for the people going.) Thanks! Carolyn
  10. Does anyone have any suggestions for where to shop for gear? I'm mostly looking for a neoprene spray skirt for my Pygmy Coho. (It has a larger cockpit than average.) Wilderness House came up empty. EMS came up empty. REI might have some stuff, but tends to be mostly nylon. I remember hearing about a really awesome place somewhere on the North Shore from an NSPN member, but that was about 5 years ago. Thank you! Carolyn
  11. QUOTE(Kevin B @ Aug 22 2008, 09:59 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Lanes Cove--10:30am butts in boat time (so arrive no later than 10am. in order to get ready). Plan is to head out and take a right towards Rockport. The group will decide the rest of the plan at the put in. I'm in. With a borrowed paddle to play with!
  12. I'm interested if it's not a super-early start. Although now that you know my speed limitations, *please* feel free to tell me if you'd like a particular trip to be faster than I can go!
  13. QUOTE(Kevin B @ Aug 14 2008, 10:34 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Let's do Boston. Winthrop put in, say 10:30am? Please voice opinions on these choices. Marc, this is your neck of the woods. Any other put ins that might be better? Count me in!
  14. I might be interested in either, especially if it's a not-super-early start time.
  15. QUOTE(Kevin B @ Jul 18 2008, 01:25 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Carolyn, Ultimately, the decision to come on the trip or not is yours to make. Typically, these transition paddles are done at an L2+ pace, so your speed (not sure what it is for you) may not be an issue. As for the distance, it will be for the group to decide. Although the plan is to circumnavigate the Sound, the plan can and most likely will change based on the preferences of the group. Hope this helps! Ok. In that case, I do believe I will join you. See you on the water! Carolyn
  16. I'd like to go on this. It's been years since I've paddled with NSPN, but it's about time I started getting out on the water more. Carolyn
  17. QUOTE(Kevin B @ Jul 15 2008, 09:33 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>For those who went on the Solstice L2 or L2+ want to try to the L3 trip? Well, here's your chance. In the spirit of the transition paddles that I organized last year, this one will take in the islands of Salem Sound. Butts in boat time will be noontime with put in location to be determined. Please post here, email, or PM interest. Hi Kevin, I wasn't on your Solstice trip. Would it still be possible to come on this trip? A little bit about my experience: - I've been paddling for about 10 years now, although not as much recently as I did earlier. - I did a 3 week NOLS sea kayaking course in Baja California about 7 years ago. - I most likely have a roll. (I did as recently as last year.) - Looking over the level requirements, I would say that I used to be a 3/4, but am probably now a 2/3. The only level 3 thing I have real doubts about is my speed and distance. Carolyn
