  3. I would like to say thanks to Al, Cathy, Kevin, and Gillian for putting on the event. I found it very informative and something very useful to new kayakers. Wish I attended last year. Along with the knowledge absorption it was great meeting people in the kayaking community. Hope to see you all again.

  6. Dudes! This is a great thread! I am a newbie and many of my questions concerning the when/where wetsuit/drysuit have been answered. Thanks for the link to the water temp chart too. I currently have a short sleeve and leg wetsuit so I won't being paddling around off the coast of Salem just yet. I am content to wait till the temp rises a bit or just paddle in the Charles. But, it looks like I will have to start researching drysuit. -Darrell
  7. Hi All, I am a new member and started sea kayaking last year. I am very interested in going to this out and was looking for a ride. So, if anybody is coming from the Salem, MA area and would like some company to and fro please let me know. -Darrell
  8. Hello All, My name is Darrell and I am a new member of this group. I also got serious about sea kayaking last year paddling all around Salem Sound and out to Misery Island (and back). So, over the past few days I've been itching to get out and kayak. But I was wondering about the water temp and was glad to see this post. I've often thought..."I'm not going out there without a drysuit on. So I really liked the comment "wear a drysuit or die" conditions. So, when do you think it will be prudent to paddle in Salem Sound, harbor etc.. without a drysuit? Any idea? late May perhap? Yes, I know it depends on the weather but is their a norm? Also, I did check out buying a drysuit. Yikes! Those things are pricey. -Darrell
