  1. I just watched mine and to be honest thought that some of the segments on the main disc were a bit weak (Israel, Lake Superior, Fishing) ... but the two expeditions on the bonus disc are stunning and well worth the price of admission.

  2. Ernie, John and I paddled from Tucks point, then west side of Bakers to south gooseberry and then out to dry breakers where we spotted numerous grey seals and then back through the Miseries to Manchester. Stunning day, the weather was beautiful, flat seas and bright sunshine. The fall colors are perfect, if you were on the fence about tomorrows Tucks point trip I would say go for it, there aren't many days in the season left.

    By the numbers 9 statute miles, 20% @ 5mph, 45% @ 4, 22% @ 3.

Sorry for late posting, just got back from Boulder (great place, just too far from the sea!). I spoke with Ernie and we are planning to leave from Winthrop at 11am to tour a couple of the islands. Exact details to be determined at launch. Would be great if you could join us.

FYI, due to a work obligation later that morning, our "butts-in-boats" time for the meeting will be right at 9am.

Unfortunately I wont be able to make the meeting but would like to get out on the water. What time is the actual butts in boat time at Pavilion beach ?

    thanks,

    Barry.

    Barry,

Thanks for the reminder. Unfortunately, there will not be a session this week.

No problem, thanks for the update. Anyone up for a late afternoon/evening paddle somewhere on the north shore ?

I'm away for the weekend and need to get my fix.

  6. Bazzert, you need to tether your hatch-covers, then! I'm not suggesting that that will retain them at 60mph; but certainly against on-water loss...(it's particularly easy to lose the day-hatch one).

Pintain, it was tethered, but my bad for not having checked it. The previous owner of my boat had tethered it with a simple stopper know and over time the knot had tightened and then was able to slip through. I was admiring the system on Marc Parsons boat last week where the tether is secured to a piece that is screwed through the hatch itself.

  7. Manage to loose the rear Kayaksport hatch for my Cetus. Anyone know where to get one locally or mail order if necessary? Thanks,

    Al

Ouch ... that's going to cost you. Remember when I lost my NDK hatch driving up to the Manchester trip a few weeks ago ? Including shipping that was a $60 replacement. I ended up ordering online as NESC didnt have that size.

  8. Many thanks Kevin for initiating a great trip. Great weather, challenging conditions and interesting stop offs made for a nice day. Just shy of 10 nautical miles, and I just discovered I can get the following information out of my gps ...

    MPH % of total distance

    2 6.5

    3 26

    4 30.5

    5 28

    6 2.6

7 .12 (this was for 76ft, surfing down some swell off the norther tip of long island!)

    Here's the track ...

  9. When we did the Graves a few weeks ago we left from the parking area just before the treatment plant, which gave better access to the open water and the outermost islands. That would be an alternative launch if we wanted to head that way. It is on the same road as the Winthrop location listed in the Put In section, just further down and on the left. ddle around.

    Marc,

Is this the location of the put-in ?

    thanks,

    Barry.
