  1. See you at 10am barry
  2. Sounds like a plan. Looking forward to it. Barry.
  3. Anybody interested in paddling tomorrow ? I'm up for anything, preferably a level 2-3 trip. Ideas include Salem Sound, Cape Ann, Ipswich bay from pavilion etc. Barry.
  4. Hi Rob, Count me in. You could continue SW from Bangs to go around Long island (nice public beach at the south western corner, plus a little islet I have always wanted to check out). Continue around Long back to the other side of Cheabeague before crossing back to Cousins. This would take the total distance to about 19 miles. Or for about the same distance you could continue south from Bangs and circumnavigate Cliff island before retracing your steps back to Cousins. Barry.
  5. Here's the link. http://tinyurl.com/salemwillows See you there! Barry.
  6. Hi Kevin: If afternoon I could make it. Barry.

    Islesboro

Hi Jeff: If you can get a hold of a copy Tafts A cruising guide to the Maine Coast it has a pretty good section on Islesboro, describing facilities on each of the islands and harbors. You can find it in the minuteman library network here or you could try one of your local libraries. You're welcome to borrow my copy if we can find a convenient time/place to exchange it. Barry.
  9. Ernie, let me know if you want to paddle some evening this week, Barry.
  10. QUOTE(Kevin B @ Jun 24 2009, 06:39 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>For those with energy left after the Solstice paddle, I am planning to go around Cape Ann on Sunday. Please post interest or email. Details to follow. Sadly I'll miss the solstice paddle so would love to tag along on this trip. Barry.
  11. In Chatham, an austere utopia yields to a relentless tide Has anyone paddled in this area ? I have always wanted to see it. Barry.
  12. I could make it over there by 6. Barry.
  13. Hi Marc: I'd join you after work that day. What time would you launch ? Barry.
  14. Hi Tom, I dont think it is quite what you are looking for but at the bottom of this page is a kmz which puts a compass rose on google earth which can be used in conjunction with the Ruler path tool to give you a bearing. For google maps (not earth) this site has a pretty good route planning tool. Barry.
  15. I'm interested in the day paddle on saturday. Barry.
  16. We should invite them (especially Giselle!) to our next skills session.
  17. This is ridiculously common. Last year the Vermon tourist authority ran a newspaper ad with a picture of a happy family in a canoe on a vermont lake, with only the kids wearing pfd's.
  18. Thanks everyone for the great suggestions. Ronan is still too young to paddle solo, but the "umiak" looks like a great option in a couple of years. I have a neighbor who has offered to lend us his canoe so we'll give it a shot. I have only camped with him once so far and he loved it, so that is something we are planning to do more of. Bob, any particular tandems you would recommend? thanks again, Barry.
  19. As much as it pains me, I am considering buying a rec boat so I can introduce my 4 year old to the joys of kayaking. It would primarily be for sheltered inland waters and lakes, and should fit either 1 or 2 adults plus the little guy. I was considering the WS Pamlico 160T; any other suggestions/advice ? many thanks, Barry.
  20. Thanks everyone for a varied and interesting paddle today. Below is the track. Total distance 15.1 miles. Barry.
  21. looking forward to it... Barry.
  22. Sadly, I am on a 7:15am Acela to NYC. Will try to make at least one of the trips this weekend. Barry.
  23. Is this club phenomenal or what ? 4 great trips to choose from this weekend. I just need to figure out which day I can sneak away. Barry.
