Come on now Suz... When I mentioned the line "The Tempest is very similar to the Explorer.", you scoffed. I am here in Mississippi for two weeks and missing the ocean. Just trying to make waves on the old message board. Adam I am traveling often. If you would like to borrow the boat for an extended amount of time, I wouldn't miss it. JG

Adam I have the 170 in plastic. If you are around Haverhill, you are welcome to take it for a spin. If you are at REI in Reading, ask to speak with Natalie. She just ordered the 165 in Kevlar. I can't believe the Explorer camp hasn't chimed in with their noses in the air.

The Glacier glove looks good. Any retailers stock them? The Nordic Blue look like big rubber glove with a gasket? Are your hands soaked with sweat after paddling hard? You must wear a liner? Fleece? Wicking thin liner? Something for warmth? Your comment on strain is right on I don't think I would want anything thicker than 2mm. I wore what they called a 5/3 hood this past weekend. My neck got quite the workout, looking over my shoulder for incoming surf.

Gloves... what are people wearing? Which one has the best grip? Paddle wax? Is it any differnt than surf wax? Two blown rolls last weekend due to the fact the paddle was not in both hands.

Sing Do you have an extra short paddle? My 220 is not the best choice for the short boat.
