  1. Why a four piece paddle? I'd like one for travel. I've used rental equipment on the last few trips I've been on and while I'd rather have my own equipment, a folding boat is not in the budget right now but a paddle is. So....if I can find a nice 4 piece paddle I'll be happy (for a little while) to postpone the boat. My Werner Shuna is a great paddle but too big to carry on (they probably won't let me anyway)and I'm hesitant to check it. The airlines do a number on luggage. Thanks for the suggestions. I will start my quest!
  2. Web searches are yielding few results. Any recommendations for a four piece high angle paddle and where one might find such item. The Auqabound Manta Ray seems to be the only option out there.
  3. I'd like to join you as well. debgendron at comcast dot net.
  4. Do any of you ladies remember a women's hiking short that had a relief zipper? I remember seeing them in a fast drying fabric but can't remember who made/sold them and I'm having the darndest time searching for them. Perhaps they were not popular and are no longer available. I drank so much water last weekend while backpacking in the Whites that I was constantly stopping to pull off my pack. I've considered a skirt but think that may be constricting during steep climbs.
  5. A fellow hiker gave me this tid bit about hydration systems. After each use, rinse with clear water and keep in freezer. This prevents any nasty growth. Seems to work.......of course this wont help your current problem.
  6. Yes Ma'am! My paddling partners seem to have called it quits for the season, running kids around and other obligations. Level 3 is my preference.
  7. Most Excellent! Would that undisclosed island be Marshall perhaps! Though I have not visited Marshall, I am very familiar with Blue Hill Bay. Pond, Eagle, Opechee, Swans, Tinker, Hardwood, Fly Point, and across Herrick Bay to Eggemoggin Reach. Never made it any further than Stinson Neck in that direction. Such a beautiful area and lacking the boat traffic of home. I have vacationed in that area for many summers and have found nothing to top it. We do day trips from a summer island (undisclosed!!) rental "base camp". Perhaps you girls would consider repeating this trip next year and allowing me to join you. The meals don't sound too shabby either! Dee, I'm the girl with the "pink sirius". Have yet to convince my fellow paddlers to try a camping trip. Deborah
  8. Thank you Bethany for your research. The biolumenescent bay looks wonderful! Looks like we'll just have to include this on our itinerary. BTW, just how bad are the mosquitos anyway (Mosquito Bay)??
  9. I'll be visiting Puerto Rico and staying on the eastern side of the island in Fajardo. Can anyone recommend a reputable outfitter within a reasonable distance? Hate to pass on the opportunity to paddle a new area.
