  2. Dear Mr. Binks, Congratulations on your Championship Victory. I’m sure all eyes of your adopted Pine Tree State are upon you as you attempt to challenge the mighty racers of the Bay State in the Blackburn Challenge and nothing short of a decisive win will satisfy Maine. Good luck to you Sir. The racers of Massachusetts have just received their new rule breaking racing boats, we tested them a week ago on the Annisquam, and we find them fast and stable. take a look….http://www.foilkayak.com/videos/FoilMovie01.wmv
  3. Oh , ! The “Big Boys” who like to BOAST ! of the “ROCKS” and “WAVES” they “CONQUERED”….shame on them for their preference for that kind of physical paddling and double shame on them for their unrestrained impulse to share it with other padders. Was this the sentiment that emerged at the club’s meeting?
  4. "how are you going to repair your hull with a dry towel in a raging sea?" You're not...you're going to fill with water..and because its a "raging sea !!", all your chums will be too white-knuckled to do much but offer sympathy..maybe you'll get a tow to the closest shore...better have your cell phone and call a taxi... Now, how'd you get the hole in the first place?.. Rocks?..then you must be close to shore anyway..
  5. After a towel dry, rub the side of the tape role vigorously on the boat, right on the crack , as if sanding, and the friction and heat will dry the spot and start to melt the side of the tape and adhesive creating a dry and sticky surface to accept the tape patch. By the way, there was alot of canoeing /kayaking and boat busting going on long before this club was founded just a few 5 years ago.... so don't blame the founder for just repeating what is common knowledge for the past 40 years.
  6. Duck tape became known as Duct tape because it was later used in HVAC ducts in the post WW II housing boom.
  7. I know you all mean well. Just keep in mind that not all ocean paddle craft are sea kayaks. A paddle float and pump are as useless to the surfskier or the surf kayaker as the anchor. I don’t ever want to have to submit to some sort of inspection by these people to put my boat in the water. It ain’t the gear that makes you safe…...”It’s the Monkey in the Bucket” Please don’t encourage these people to become the “paddlers police”. SB
  8. yes, you often are far away and it's getting harder to twist around to see how far back you are.
  9. Hey Mr Binks, you did not spell my name, that a cap "B" in Bass. I do know this boat very well, my son paddles it and I also fit in it and enjoy the handling this nice little boat has. It is a great boat for small people, hey ...you might give it a try yourself little fella...
  10. http://www.nspn.org/htdocs/dcforum/DCForumID4/160.html best boat ever for small people,
  11. That would be : (warm and dry) vs (chilled and clammy)
  12. The Chalk-talks are a native American tribe indigenous to Georgia's Okefenokee Swamps. They're known for their dug-out canoes and rough water gator hunting. I believe they invented the T rescue, and are quite skilled at trip planning.
  13. We here at the Institute think you did everything just right. Most would cower to the security of their sofa and learn nothing. You now know more about this kind of situation that most others reading these pages, so why ask for a critique?
