running the long tow...

rick stoehrer

this allows the tow-er to control the bows of BOTH boats and this config still allows the assist (orange boat) to get out of the lineup if he/she wants to do so.

for the assist to get out of the lineup, all they need do is pull themselves along the victim boat to the bow and release the 'biner from the victim deckline...the tow-er can paddle off and the tow line and 'biner (in theory) pull out from under the deckline of the assist.

in runinng the tow line beneath the forward deckline of the assist and then clipping into the victim forward deckline, the tow-er controls the bows of both boats and free's up the assist from having to control anything and they can then concentrate on aiding the victim.

if you are going to be in this config for an extended period or even if you can just do it fast, you can rig the short tow from assist to victim (as in another photo) and the assist can further ensure the stability/safety of the victim.
