Suz
Here is a great article on paddling.net about Surf Landings from Wayne Horodowich. http://www.paddling.net/guidelines/showArticle.html?146 It explains how to ride in on the backs of the wave in a controlled manner. djlewis
Yes, it is a good article on the subject. Thanks. (Have you had some recent trouble with surf landings? ;-)))But, what's TNT (other than the common, non-kayaking, explosive stuff)?--David. djlewis
Absoutely. I remember my first landing on my own in significant surf -- decent size stuff in Southern RI. I did the forward and backward thing rather well, and coasted in gently on the back of a wave. Unfortunately, I was so pleased with myself that I sat there at the edge of the water offering myself effusive congratulations and acknowledging the imaginary applause -- and neglected the important final step: get out fast and start dragging the boat up the beach. Needless to say, the next big breaker came in right on schedule and jolted me from my egocentric reverie in more ways than one. ;-))--David.
