Current coastal forecast update: Seas 2' Wind west to north west 18 with gusts to 25. Long Sands surf 1.5' with 10sec periods.

Weather.com calls York area at 23 WNW, gusts to 40 (!), rain 30%. Is there any way to stay alee of this, Gene? It's Halloween, but I'd hate to look the part without a costume.

No, there isn't any lee option for this particular trip. I couldn't confirm your wind predictions however. If there is concern about the wind we could revise the trip to some more sheltered area. One possible idea is launch from the Kittery Wharf paddle through the back channel in Portsmouth Harbor and circle Newcastle, back to the wharf and paddle Chauncey Creek up to the Seapoint bridge and back. Most of this would be less wind but we might have to contend with some tidal current. What do others think?

How does Tuesday sound for this trip?

Found this on the web site under text for Sunday.

Windy with a few showers in the morning then partly cloudy in the afternoon. High near 50F. Winds WNW at 20 to 30 mph. Chance of rain 30%. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph.

I'm OK changing to another day during the week. Tuesday not likely for me though. I remember last spring around Gerrish with very high gusts. Is it the area?

Will check later tonight for an update.

Bob

Well, if the consensus is to move this to Tuesday, I'm OK with that. I'm still open to do something more sheltered tomorrow as well. York to Nubble is cancelled for Sunday. Post here if anyone wants to go out into the Portsmouth Harbor and out to Little Harbor, Rye tomorrow
