This guy launched yesterday from Wisconsin. Jake Stachovak is paddling the "Great Loop Route or Great Circle Loop" and plans on taking 10 months to complete. Looks like he'll be passing through our area in May. Here is a link to a news story, his blog and map route. Cool stuff, I wish him lots of luck!

Anybody putting odds on the East coast side trip and if it's going to happen? If it goes we can help him (lending charts etc).

My thoughts exactly. I would love to send him the suggestion of coming back to do that leg another time. I think he will probably decide to forgo his plans for a side trip up the coast of New England as he paddles up the Jersey shore. I've got a feeling he will just take a left and paddle up the Hudson River. We should definitely welcome this guy if he does paddle through our area. I might even join him for a couple of miles. What a great adventure!

Hello everybody. My name is Aaron Stachovak I am Jake Stachovak's brother. It is awesome to see the paddling community pulling together to support Jake in his trip. I am sure he will welcome any and all fellow paddlers - I will be linking up with him next fall when he comes through Green Bay. Keep passing the word to others - if you can, try to let a few members of the media know about this as well :)

If you have not been following his blog http://www.portagetoportage.com/ Jake has recently overcome a major set back after most of his gear was stolen and is now back on the water and set to make up lost time...

thanks for your support!!!

Aaron, Yes we wait for your brother to make his way up here to New England! There are also paddling clubs and environmental organizations along the Hudson who I am sure would welcome your brother. I will try to contact them as he makes his way up the the river (or up the coast). Ross
