rick stoehrer Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 few of us paddled out yesterday from rye harbor with a wind at our back....made the crossing in a about 70 ish minutes. attempted to land at the dock on star but was shoo-ed away by the island caretaker. the island is closed to visitors until spring/summer and as we looked like real rabble rousers we were re-directed to smuttynose. spent about an hour laying about, gnoshing and examining one of the structures that was open...looked like a very comfy place indeed to weathre out a storm had the need arisen. paddled back into a dying wind. a lovely day. rick stoehrer Posted November 9, 2009 Author Posted November 9, 2009 What?! No Coast Guard escort? nope...the coasties didn't ask us to escort them..had they asked, we'd have helped them out but it was a fairly calm day with unlimited visibility and they apparently could sort things out for themselves. we were monitoring the radio though had they hailed us for help. tyson Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Ooooh! That looks like Guinness! I more of a fan of Porters, but most beer that you can't see through is tasty. Cheers! Ty PS: That post wasn't supposed to have a repeated emoticon. There is some sort of an error that results in two emoticons having the same mark-up text, making one of them inaccessible. Quote
