spider Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Sometimes all is not as it seems with the waters where we paddle... The headline I read from the Portsmouth Hearld (online) states "Feds Sue Portsmouth Over Wastewater Discharge" In particular it states the Pierce Island waste treatment plant has consistently discharged...well lets just say when they are talking "suspended solids" it isn't hard to figure what they are referring to. The fine is $27,500 - $37,500 per day per violation. South Mill pond is also mentioned as unsafe. Just thought I would mention it would be wise to wash ones' boat, self and gear etc after paddling some of the places we paddle...well, I suppose, that might be a bit of an understatement... Quote

Not surprising...there was an article in Sunday's paper about the nationwide violation of the Clean Water Act. Quote
