Pintail Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 ...completed by South African adventurer Riaan Manser. Actually, he finished about a month ago after paddling something like 5000km, alone and un-supported by any crew. Google Riaan Manser for more info. Those South Africans! Two more are meanwhile flying their two-seater, single-engined aircraft prototype around the globe on its maiden voyage. They are going to set up production on their return to the highveld. The aircraft is tanked to carry about 23 hours' worth of fuel and they have crossed the southern Atlantic, visited Oshkosh and are now in Borneo after having crossed the Pacific! Next, onward to Kuala Lumpur and home across the Indian ocean... By the way, the long-standing flying record from London to Cape Town and back to London was set in the 1930s by Alex Henshaw in his Percival Mew Gull and <this> record was recently broken, also, by a South African who flew the other way around...as I wrote: those South Africans! Never forgetting a certain Oscar Chalupsky! Quote

Pintail Posted August 19, 2009 Author Posted August 19, 2009 Yes, sure: (i) Riaan Manser and Madagascar -- just google the two together and you will find plenty; (ii) theaircraftfactory.co.za is the correct address, I think... Quote
Pintail Posted August 19, 2009 Author Posted August 19, 2009 No, wrong: make that simply airplanefactory.co.za Quote
