leong
Kayak reviews in Sea Kayaker magazine provide speed versus resistance tables, where resistance is the force required to move the kayak through the water at the given speed. For example, the Futura II surf ski has a resistance of 4.68 pounds at 6 knots and the Artic Tern has a higher resistance (5.22 pounds) at 5 knots. Elementary kayak-physics question: Which is more exhausting and why: Paddling the Futura II at 6 knots for one hour or paddling the Artic Tern at 5 knots for one hour?
