Anyone using either the Casio G'Zone Type-S or Type-V phones from Verizon? They clain MIL–SPECS Certified to MIL–Standard 810F for shock and dust and waterproof at 1m for 30 min - also tested for salt deterioration.

I'm due for a replacement and wonder if these guys are as good as they seem?

We use Kyocera palm phones that are definitely not bulky as phones. We put them in bags. The typical cell phone needs to be open to be used so this sort of phone, say a Treo, works in a bag. The voice operation works through the bag. As Brian noted, we use them as a backup as they are not a replacement for a VHF radio. Both have their shortcomings.
