leong
This is Tom's second time in a transatlantic race. He's a race official for the Blackburn Challenge.
Kevin B (RPS Coach)
Too bad, but he gave up. Looks like he should have spent more time in rough water before trying the trip. Equipment and design will only get you so far...skill and experience can't be ignored: http://www.boston.com/news/globe/city_regi..._continu_1.html Cool video of the helicopter rescue though
Suz
This wasn't Tom Mailhot, it was a man called Charlie Girard. Suz
Rob Hazard
I ran into Tom and Sara at Pavilion Beach on Sunday, shortly after reading this thread. We had a confused moment when Tom thought I was Brad Gwynn, and I wondered why Tom wasn't halfway across the Atlantic! Fortunately, Sara knew who and where we all were...:^D Rob
shewhorn
>We had a confused moment when Tom thought I was Brad Gwynn... So Brad is running into people he knows even when he's not there! Why am I not surprised. LOL Cheers, Joe
shewhorn
>Too bad, but he gave up. Looks like he should have spent >more time in rough water before trying the trip. According to the article I read the longest consecutive seat time he'd ever rowed was 6 hours. If that's an accurate account then the guy is a total moron and should have to reimburse the Coast Guard for the rescue Endurance attempts like that usually take several years to train for, not 6 months of time with a personal trainer.
