Gillian
Hi there, on a paddle this weekend it was recommended to me that I try a Butterfly Roll along with learning the sweep roll . . . does anyone know how to do this kind of roll, and if so be willing to teach me sometime? Thanks!! Kevin B (RPS Coach)
Hey G, Check out Brian's description: http://www.kayakforum.com/cgi-bin/Techniqu...ames/read/21952
Brian Nystrom
It should read:"3) Cross the left arm over the RIGHT arm and hold the paddle parallel to and against the gunwale on the right side."
Kevin B (RPS Coach)
Yup, figured that out...I sort of thought kayaking would be quite hard with two left arms
Gillian
thanks guys! i'll bring the instruction manual out there with me and try to read it while i'm hanging upside down . . . . "now which left arm is it? did someone say something about whales with guns?"
scamlin
Here's a video of the second part of a butterfly roll. http://www.kayakpics.com/gallery/b_roll Scott
Brian Nystrom
...here's something about cows with guns: http://www.cowswithguns.com/cowmovie.html Just click on the link that says: "To watch his movie... click here". It's well worth watching. The only downside is that you can't get the "Cows with guns" refrain out of your head afterward.
Brian Nystrom
That paddle looks suspiciously familiar. I seem to recall falling out of that boat once, too...
kate
C'mon by Walden some evening and I'll show you how to do this roll and a list of others. There are almost always people practicing rolls at Walden, great place to learn and teach. I'm generally there on Wednesdays and Fridays if weather permits. The water is clear and clean, and it's warming up nicely. In return you can help me with my less-than-great storm roll...kate
