More than once in Maine this summer and fall the facility of culling the mussels clinging from the rocky shores for dinner came up. I happened across the following recipe. While the cream sauce is a bad idea for me when camping the techniques for preparing the mussels are useful both camping and at home and one can adjust the recipe toward a different sauce. Serving eight, I'm not sure how long it would take to pick the six pounds of mussels but it does provide an alternative to packing them.
