Does anyone have any pointers, suggestions, etc for this assessment or care to share what it was like for them?

Make sure you pick good instructors, worth researching to find more seasoned\experienced folks. 

Highly recommend doing it with Todd Wright and Carl Ladd if they have one planned.  Not sure how others structure, but they typically set up so there's a day of assessing your personal skills, and then the rest of the assessment is teaching practice students (as opposed to your peers/other candidates.). I really like this method since it makes it more authentic.

Be yourself, make it fun for you and the students and hold on to the thought it's just another day on the water.  Best of luck.
