Aquatic Invasive Species

While most NSPN trips are on salt water, we see trips going out on fresh water lakes and rivers. Not to mention weekly lake sessions.

So even though it's late in the season, it's good to remind ourselves of the growing risk of invasive aquatic species that can and have been fouling our inland waters and threatening native species.

Some simple practices can help: clean, drain and dry. Not only do they largely prevent boaters from inadvertantly spreading these pests, your boat and gear may smell better.

See this quick guide from our friends at Northern Forest Canoe Trail.
