On behalf of the club's board I'm pleased to announce that Online Seakayaking is offering a 20% discount to club members. Codes can be found on a post pinned on the NSPN Business forum on how to claim your club discount.  Maybe, like me you've seen their videos on facebook or elsewhere. They are very high quality and taken together cover a huge diversity of seakayaking topics. See their introductory video here:

Also see their website here:

Additionally Simon and James have donated one annual membership to the club, and the board has voted to match that donation. We will be picking random winners of these subscriptions at our upcoming General Meeting. More details to follow!

I've been using this resource for more than a year now.  Really like it.

On the threshold of a new paddling season, where some of us may have been in mothballs, this new course offering by OSK could be a great additive to the mental and physical conditioning to hit the water running.

New Forwards Paddling Course

We spend most of our time paddling our sea kayak forwards, it makes sense then that we would want to develop a solid forwards paddling technique. A good, efficient forwards paddle stroke will mean we can paddle comfortably all day without becoming excessively fatigued, picking up injuries and ultimately have more fun on the water.

For this first series of lessons in the forwards paddling course we break down the stroke into its key components. Using a series of progressive lessons, clearly shot and structured we aim to develop your stroke to give you more power and efficiency. We have lessons on wing, performance and the Greenland stroke coming soon.

I was a very fortunate randomly selected recipient of one of the two Online Sea Kayaking subscriptions that were generously donated by Online Sea Kayaking and NSPN last year. I have been very impressed by the amount and quality of content offered in these videos.  I’ve been learning a lot,  and find the smaller, finer details so helpful. I do encourage everyone to take advantage of the trial period and look over the videos, and if you find them beneficial, take advantage of the NSPN discount to subscribe. I will definitely be keeping my subscription, likely for my entire kayaking future. There are also some other perks available, including periodic live presentations through a dedicated Facebook group, and ability to send in videos for evaluation, and interaction through comments associated with the individual videos. So far I have focused mainly on the video instruction. I don’t think I will ever  run out of my enthusiasm for these videos or ever be able to stop learning from them. They keep adding more too! Thank you NSPN for introducing me to this resource.
