  1. The July issue features a story on Cheri Perry and the class she taught for NSPN back in early June. Paula NDK Exp-LV VCP-Anas Acuta
  2. Dear Sir Pintail - Methinks you should be an English professor. You sure have the English part down. In more ways than one, I might add. Hope you are doing well. Will you be around for BB next weekend? Paula NDK Exp-LV VCP-Anas Acuta
  3. I've seen the elite layup get t-boned in the surf with no holing. And, another time, I've seen the bow get jammed between two rocks while strong current pushed on the boat like a big lever. Made this horrid cracking noise, I thought for sure the bow would have been ripped off, but it was just the gel coat that got damaged. That boat has seen it's fair share of abuse, but it's taken it pretty well. Paula NDK Exp-LV VCP-Anas Acuta
  4. Hi All - There are still spots left in this class. This is a great class to learn or brush up on boat handling as well as rescue skills. Even if not pursuing the BCU track, this course is designed to help you become a more skilled paddler. Please check out the calendar for more information. Peace & Cheers, Paula NDK Exp-LV VCP-Anas Acuta
  5. A big thank you to Tom and June for trucking the boats down for the day so we could play. It was a fun day and great to see some old friends and meet new ones. And Jennifer (Tom & June's little girl) was quite impressive in the Explorer LV. She paddled with Tom from Pavillion over to Plum Island, got side surfed by a wave and handled it like a pro! Ahhh..to have started paddling at 8 years old... Peace & Cheers, Paula NDK Exp-LV VCP-Anas Acuta
  6. Hi - Here are the directions to Pavillion: To get there, go to Ipswich (from Rt. 95 to the west, take exit 54 onto Route 133 east; from Route 128 to the south, take exit 20 onto Route 1A north). Continue through Ipswich on Route 1A/133 east, just 0.6 miles to a bend in road and continue through the center of Ipswich. At that bend, continue straight onto County Road. 0.9 miles on County, bear left onto Jeffreys Neck Road. 1.7 miles further, take the right fork onto Little Neck Road, continue on for _ mile to Pavilion Beach. The strip of land between Great Neck and Little Neck is Pavilion Beach. Launching is permitted at the beach’s north end. Paula NDK Exp-LV VCP-Anas Acuta
  7. Hi All - Just a reminder that Tom from MIKCO will be down at Pavillion Beach Ipswich this Saturday 10am-3pm with a trailer of NDK demo boats to try out - including the new Romany Surf. Stop on by! Paula NDK Exp-LV VCP-Anas Acuta

  11. Currently painting the ghetto house kitchen a color called 'barley' from benjamin moore. It's in the yellow family. If you go to a ben moore dealer, they have little jars of paint you can buy for a couple bucks and try. I did try a color called something like chestertown (or charlestown) buff - that was a darker color - but looked like I smeared guldens mustard on the wall. Good luck. Paula NDK Exp-LV VCP-Anas Acuta
  12. Trick is to land just as light fading, go low (bivy opposed to tent), no glow (ie no candle-lantern, headlamp, etc), cover boat with seaweed to disguise and off island at crack of dawn. And if caught, heck, just start crying and make up a good excuse. There are some benefits to being a woman kayaker : - )) Paula NDK Exp-LV VCP-Anas Acuta
  13. Go a few more miles further and commando on Wood Island where the abandoned cg station is. PS - Does your mother know you're doing this :- )) Paula NDK Exp-LV VCP-Anas Acuta

Check out a brief clip of the video here http://www.cackletv.com/tits3.html. Boat Handling: Bow rudder a bit shaky? Can’t quite get that low brace turn? No power in your sculling draw? Afraid to commit to the paddle? On Saturday, June 30th, a boat handling /BCU 3* stroke course taught by local stroke guru Jed Luby (BCU L3 Coach sea) is being offered. 15. For those who frequent the Casco Bay area - here's an interesting article on the effect the storm had on buoys. 44007 registered a 32 footer then was found floating off the isle of shoals. http://pressherald.mainetoday.com/news/loc...70430buoys.html Paula NDK Exp-LV VCP-Anas Acuta
  16. Check out page 18 regarding the Mayor's Cup race and the 1st place female kayaker. Here's a hint, her initials are A.L. Paula NDK Exp-LV VCP-Anas Acuta

  19. Hi All - Anyone willing to let Nigel borrow a boat for 11/4 and 11/5? Preferably a Legend. If you do, please contact me at fatcat@metrocast.net. Thanks! Paula NDK Exp-LV VCP-Anas Acuta
  20. Greg and I will be there - no working on the ghetto house that day! Paula NDK Exp-LV VCP-Anas Acuta
  21. I second the Reeds. I have a dry cag and it does well in keeping out the water - better than an IR top I have w/ neoprene neck. I have a thin neck and the Reeds fits quite snug. (Doesn't stretch as much as latex, so getting out of it is always good for some laughs). It doesn't breathe, but great at keeping wind out, so wicking layers are a good thing. Paula NDK Exp-LV VCP-Anas Acuta
  22. Nigel will be here Nov 4th & 5th. So reserve those dates on your calendar. Other details still being worked out, so a calendar posting regarding the classes should be posted within a week or so. Paula NDK Exp-LV VCP-Anas Acuta
  23. Hi Folks, We have the opportunity to have Nigel Foster back again this fall in early Nov. He's traveling overseas prior to the SKG symposium in late Oct, so begining of Nov was the earliest weekend he could accomodate us. Last year we did a beginner surf class 1st day and an advanced surf class 2nd day - tho I believe due to lack of conditions the 2nd day became more a boat handling class. My questions for the membership are: What mix of classes would you like to see? For example, we could again do a beginner long boat & advanced long boat surf class, or a short boat and long boat surf class, or a surf class and another type of class, like boat handling. For anyone not familiar with Nigel, please check out this link: http://www.nigelfosterdesigns.com/ Thanks in advance for your feedback. Paula NDK Exp-LV VCP-Anas Acuta
  24. Hi Kevin - Believe the address for Frisbee's is 88 Pepperrell Rd, Kittery Point, ME. It's right in Pepperrell Cove. There's a sea-food resturant right there too. Capt'n Simeons (spelling probably off). Depending on size of group, you may not be able to all park there, but believe there's parking across street at a school parking lot. There's also a put in further up the river in the back channel, behind some school/academy. It's escaping me how to get there but if you want a longer paddle, that's an option. There's also Ordiorne Point on the NH side. Have fun! Paula NDK Exp-LV VCP-Anas Acuta
