I've seen the elite layup get t-boned in the surf with no holing. And, another time, I've seen the bow get jammed between two rocks while strong current pushed on the boat like a big lever. Made this horrid cracking noise, I thought for sure the bow would have been ripped off, but it was just the gel coat that got damaged. A big thank you to Tom and June for trucking the boats down for the day so we could play. It was a fun day and great to see some old friends and meet new ones. And Jennifer (Tom & June's little girl) was quite impressive in the Explorer LV. She paddled with Tom from Pavillion over to Plum Island, got side surfed by a wave and handled it like a pro! Hi - Here are the directions to Pavillion: To get there, go to Ipswich (from Rt. 95 to the west, take exit 54 onto Route 133 east; from Route 128 to the south, take exit 20 onto Route 1A north). Continue through Ipswich on Route 1A/133 east, just 0.6 miles to a bend in road and continue through the center of Ipswich. At that bend, continue straight onto County Road. 0.9 miles on County, bear left onto Jeffreys Neck Road. 1.7 miles further, take the right fork onto Little Neck Road, continue on for _ mile to Pavilion Beach. Currently painting the ghetto house kitchen a color called 'barley' from benjamin moore. It's in the yellow family. If you go to a ben moore dealer, they have little jars of paint you can buy for a couple bucks and try. I did try a color called something like chestertown (or charlestown) buff - that was a darker color - but looked like I smeared guldens mustard on the wall. Good luck. Trick is to land just as light fading, go low (bivy opposed to tent), no glow (ie no candle-lantern, headlamp, etc), cover boat with seaweed to disguise and off island at crack of dawn. I second the Reeds. I have a dry cag and it does well in keeping out the water - better than an IR top I have w/ neoprene neck. I have a thin neck and the Reeds fits quite snug. (Doesn't stretch as much as latex, so getting out of it is always good for some laughs). It doesn't breathe, but great at keeping wind out, so wicking layers are a good thing. Hi Folks, We have the opportunity to have Nigel Foster back again this fall in early Nov. He's traveling overseas prior to the SKG symposium in late Oct, so begining of Nov was the earliest weekend he could accomodate us. Last year we did a beginner surf class 1st day and an advanced surf class 2nd day - tho I believe due to lack of conditions the 2nd day became more a boat handling class. My questions for the membership are: What mix of classes would you like to see? For example, we could again do a beginner long boat & advanced long boat surf class, or a short boat and long boat surf class, or a surf class and another type of class, like boat handling. Hi Kevin - Believe the address for Frisbee's is 88 Pepperrell Rd, Kittery Point, ME. It's right in Pepperrell Cove. There's a sea-food resturant right there too. Capt'n Simeons (spelling probably off). Depending on size of group, you may not be able to all park there, but believe there's parking across street at a school parking lot. There's also a put in further up the river in the back channel, behind some school/academy. It's escaping me how to get there but if you want a longer paddle, that's an option.
