Schooner Adventure on board winter maintenance presentation

Greg Bover, President of the Schooner Adventure B.O.D. has offered to show us what happens on Adventure during the off season. Adventure isn't sailing but it's still a busy time. We'll meet on the Harriet Webster Pier on the Harbor Loop in Gloucester (along side the Martime Gloucester Museum).

Greg has asked that we limit participants to 15. Adventure's deck is under a canopy. It will be chilly but we'll be out of the wind and weather.

    What's happening on Adventure?

    Downrigging of all the running rigging and disassembling all 84 blocks for service, lubrication and reassembly. All the spars will be sanded and refinished– lots of scraping and painting. Rearranging the galley and storage. Deep maintenance on the engine and electrical systems.

    Just a heads up that we'll be boarding Adventure just past low tide. The gangway will be a bit steep so wear your good non-skid boots/shoes. I stopped by today– here's a few photos.

    Looks good for tomorrow's visit on Schooner Adventure. Parking on the Harbor Loop may be tough with all the snow but there is metered parking on Rogers St (no charge on Sunday) and a lot just on the other side of the Building Center– https://maps.app.goo.gl/T3AeP19Xr8oG79yF7

    The pier where Adventure is docked is just to the left of Maritime Gloucester Museum. See you there
