Listen- I am new to this blog and have read the same lame stuff from the same people. By request for actual paddleing in the ocean ( not a swimming pool, not in a barn in Topsfield) I have invited anyone to paddle whom lives on the North Shore of MA. The only response was a guy that want's to take me camping up in Maine! i have no desire to continue with this computer blog. I only hoped to stir up some excitement for this sport! I don't have to prove myself. I know i am the only one out in the ocean 3-4 days a week. I have live in the Pacific North- West and have paddled with people that put me to shame. I have also learned that if i asked for the next wine & cheese social or pool trip, i would be shunned. As stated from the very start, I am looking for people whom paddle the North Shore of Ma. whom want to let loose with the safety of a small group

hmmn....i'm up in the air about your being a troll, barely literate or just young and/or immature enough to be this brash and abrasive.
if you turn out to be legit, please pardon my/our hesitation - i know i'm trying to sort you out...maybe others as well...doesn't help in my book that you've seemingly annoyed someone i think a lot of in the sweet but swearing ferret.
in the meantime though, nope. extreme kayaking with you sounds a little too risky for me. good luck with it though.

I am sure you are not an old fart. I think you are being hard on yourself. You ( I don't know what you mean by we) You could keep up with me.
Lesson # 1- Throw away your books, especially the Eskimo ones
# 2- Put on your drysuit and safety- equip. Drive your kayak to the beach
# 3- Paddle, Paddle, Paddle. Stay close to the beach if you feal distraught.
# 4- Most important- Forget about posing for a camera ( There won't be any) Forget about any swimming pools, the chlorine is bad for neoprene. Just enjoy
I hope this helps- It's all mental preperation on paddleing for yourself and not how to impress upon others

We all must be clueless old farts. Sounds like we couldn't keep up with the likes of you. I didn't know people actually paddle in the winter! "Without any restrictions"? Please define...

I am all up for paddleing next weekend, but camping out with a guy is not my thing ( especially on the first date0 Let's meet at the newburyport jetty at let's say 8 a.m..You ca always try your new camping gear out in my backyard. I will be camping in, with a woman friend. It helps me paddle better the next day
-
Ken let's paddle next weekend and stay overnight at one of the casco bay islands? I want to test some new camping gear so this would be a great chance to do something as far from the pool as possible. A day trip is just not enough to get a good immersion of elements. A can meet around 8am at Falmouth town landing

Hi Tom- Some of the best paddlers are in their prime years. If you ever want to get out for a short weekday paddle, give me a shout. I tend to stay close to shore when the water temps. are low.

Ken,
I posted the flyer You mentioned after a sedate, low sea, warm paddle along Cranes on Sunday. I like You am not a fan of the L1,2,3....add infinitum, but I'm also old and, at least where self preservation is concerned wise. The dry suit was too warm and confining on Sunday, but necessary. At 18 I swamped and swam in midwestern rivers in March and shivered to the point of hypothermia following. The same exercise a mile out in even this calm March Atlantic would mean death. Sea kayaking is different things for different people, but young+strong or old + less strong, we/you must be safe! ( By the way, my roof leaks...just a little.) LOL Really wish I was again young and foolish enough to paddle with You.

Before I get kicked out of this "organization" Does anyone want to actually paddle in the ocean NOW, without any restrictions? It's supposed to be fun, not an elderly A.M.C. meet and greet! (Why would anyone pay to kayak in a swimming pool?)
-
Does anyone want to paddle in the ocean, rather then a pool? Sunday mornings? Ipswich/ Newburyport. ? Open water no chlorine or skimmers. No camera pose shots. Just Sea-Kayaking
-
please see Blue Kayak Works website . I think this will resolve what you are looking for. I have purchased 2 on line. They work great but take alot patience to install. 60 seconds to desperse a sea-kayak!

I tend to have a busy schedule and can't get there this weekend, but I'm up for bump when ever possible.
Cheers!

Once again, I appologize. The response to another reader, I believed was not to be brodcasted to other viewers. I now know that other's can view any, one on one conversations. As regards to my typo. error. I only tried to make humor on the reply. The person I replyed to was clearly upset that I spelled his boat wrong by a vowel. If you read the text, I give praise to the AnAs- Acuta.I believe the only thing you could find offensive would be my title of the noun in question. As i have already stated, I will refrain from r-rated conversations, to that of rated- G as to retain this site as family friendly. I admire your heros whom stepped in as well, but a simple mistake is a simple mistake. Let's spend are frustrated energy on hard paddleing!

Hi Ken,
I found the message you posted, quite insulting. I am not referring to the one about the name of a boat but the other one that was removed by Jason. It was not in the spirit of the men and women who I paddle with in this Club. The men in this Club who I paddle with are respectful to women and that is why Doug responded in kind and Jason (in his infinite wisdom) removed the message. Maybe the paddlers who you paddle with are more "relaxed" when they refer to a woman's body; but in the future, if you could refrain from sexual explicit comments about women in your posts, it would be appreciated by me.

Sorry will do. This organization is a lot moe formal then I am used to. I think I offended Doug more because he felt I might be posting under the influence of alcohol. I appologize. I am used to paddleing with The Merrimack Valley Paddlers whom are a little relaxed. The original typo was a mistake. I just tried to make a little humor out of the response. Thanks for the heads up. I'll be more carefull as not to offend anyone in the future.
Yes, there is a world of difference between an anus and an anas. One little letter can mean so much.
Welcome to the NSPN message board; but <please> proof your posts before hitting the button: spelling <does> matter (well, to some of us!) ;^)
-
Sorry Bro, (TEXT REMOVED FAMILY FORUM).. Anus Anas/ Tomato potato
-
First of all, I don't paddle an "anus". I paddle an Anas Acuta. ;-)
As Doug mentioned, most of us are familiar with the Tide Race boats and have paddled many of them. The X-Cite S had a nice hull, but the seat/combing didn't fit me well. All the others were too large and tub-like for my taste. I spent a good bit of time looking at the P&H Delphin and also the Tiderace X-treme, but I found both to be much too large.
I rather prefer a low volume boat with hard chines, a Greenland stick and a wet ride.
Cheers!

Thanks Doug for the reply.

Hi Ken,
Welcome to the club. You seemed to pop up out of nowhere. Most of us are well aware of Tiderace. In fact we had Randy from NY bring 6 or 7 boats out last year for a demo day at the Tuesday night Surf session. I must admit I am envious of your new Xtreme". Sweet boat!
Many of us paddle year round but given the water temps, etc we tend to keep it a tight knit group of people whose skills we are aware of and can rely on. You appear to be a soloist but I personally won't go out in the winter without a pod of 3 paddlers minimum.
As you may or may not have noticed, we have scheduled many trips this year. I can appreciate your enthusium and understand it very well but it would behoove you to get to know some of us. As for cocktails, they are best consumed after the paddle.
Added note, when you add a reply to someones post, simply hit "Reply" and put your cursor after the last thing that was written and begin typing there. Doing this will create only one post with it's response attached to it as demonstrated here.
If your interested in transitioning from a Euro blade to Greenland paddle, we have a Greenland Workshop this Sunday at the Portsmouth YMCA for only $25. See the calander for more details.

I am interested in a paddle trip listed on the trip- page. Refreshments will be served upon request. This will be a casual trip. Only life- jackets and a sea-worthy kayak mandated.

I took note that you paddle a Anus- Acuta. It is still my boat of choice in rough conditions, that I use most of the winter. Check out the new Tiderace X-treme on a google search. I will be paddleing it on Friday for the first time, other then a flat water demo on the other side of the pond(in Norway last year)The specs. are very close to the Anus, but check out the rocker and flattened hull!

I would like to know if anyone is interested on a pre- planned trip for a small group of experienced paddlers to surf the mouth of the Merrimack at flood tide (2 hrs. prior)This would be the ideal time of year, prior to heavy boat traffic. The standing waves can be surfed at random with out any set or pattern, which means one wave deflects to another, without any anticipation.High intensity at it's best!
I know your out their, based on my last post. I am flex-able on times and days other then Saturdays.
Ken D
Anyone out their that does x-treame paddleing ?
