  1. I am taking Thursday off from work and am looking for a paddling partner. I am looking to take a lighter side trip as I am still getting into kayaking shape. Also looking to explore my borrowed GP (braces etc). Aiming to play and get wet (and stay wet). Anyone interested? Lake or ocean. I am open (but have a wet suit only). I will also be at Walden on Wednesday. Missed the first one but looking forward to tomorrow (weather a bit unsettled). Let me know.

  2. Karen, I would love to borrow it. How can I pick it up? I am aiming to go to Walden very soon. My wooden Malone paddle, I am sad to report, is starting to feel betrayed. Nice to be in contact with you again (if this is the same Karen I think you are - I remember our Cape Cod paddle when it started to down pour on us as the thick fog rolled in). Call me at 781-571-0598 or write back on this thread so I can borrow your GP. Thanks.

  3. Thanks everyone! I just purchased Brian's book. Looks great. While I do not have much experience with wood working or tools, I will give it a try. I look forward to meeting many of you at Walden for the practice sessions. It will be nice to paddle with NSPNers again. And I look forward to trying out the greenland paddles you will so generously let me try out. Until soon.

  4. OK. I have been doing my own research on greenland paddles. I now have more questions than answers. I guess my research skills are lacking! I am eager to purchase one but really still have many questions. Any ideas how to begin to get serious on my personal goal of buying a greenland paddle. I have been paddling for many years. My brace is strong. I drive a valley avocet (plastic). I am about 5' 6". Anyone got one I can borrow? Anyone interested in meeting me at Walden so I can try it out with and get some tips from an experienced greenland paddler? Let me know. I would love the help. Thanks so much for considering this.

  5. Question: Is a full wet suit OK for the June dates of these sessions? I have never owned a dry suit. I remember paddling in lakes in June with a wet suit and things have been OK. I am very careful and do not like to risk things. I am also thinking of paddling Walden soon but cannot get a water temp for the lake. So I have been holding off. Thoughts? I am looking forward to meeting many of you at the practice sessions. I used to go to many practice sessions when Bob B was still around town. I learned a lot at them. Thanks.

  6. Yes. I am aware of that option but I was hoping to get knee and thigh braces for a valley boat., They were actually held in place by bolts that fit into nuts inside the pads. back when I was more active in the club, there was a place on the north shore that repaired british boats. I am hoping they are still around. I am trying to avoid a trip to south Rhode Island. Thanks.

  7. hello,

i am trying to repair an old valley skerry plastic kayak. does anyone know a person/business that could help. the thigh pads under the hull have detached from the boat and i need them for bracing.

it is a joy to be writing on this board again. i was a very early member of the nspn. i lead many practice sessions at walden and a few trips out of marblehead. i hope to reconnect...once i get my boat fixed.

    thanks for any help.
