  1. Can someone please tell me how i can change a password? I am so frustrated. It wouldn't let me in, i had NSPN generate a password and in order for me to change it it wants a new email address. WTH? you can't get a message thru' to them without changing the email address . something seems screwy. or am i missing something? i have been trying this on and off for a week. Grrrrr.. No luck. yes i know i can keep their password, but will remember my own more easily.

    Thanks

  2. And there is always the fact that someone may be depressed and just not care. We may or may not ever know, but there are people that knew and cared about this woman and they are are all hurting. All we should be concerned with is trying to educate others and do what we know best for ourselves while out on the water.

  3. Drop them into a straw as many or a few as you want and seal the ends with a heated butter knife edge or needle nose pliers. Can be sealed in between each tablet if you choose. Take your trauma scissors and snip off however many you need when and if the need arises. Compact cheap and easy storage problem solved.

  4. I can't remember what type of skeg system that i have in my PX, but i remember that there was 2 different types. I wonder if it is a problem with just one of those or it is happening to both. I would be curious to know. So far i have not had a skeg issue at all, i got my boat last September. I try not to paddle with any skeg if i can help it, that boat is quite responsive. I was in a P+H Scorpio before and had to always use some skeg, it is nice to paddle a boat w/out having to now, I get worried that i will forget to put it up if i put it down now that i have been for going it. The cables are a lot more complicated than they use to be on the NDK's

  5. By three seasons do you eschew the winter (my second most favourite season) or the summer (my least favourite season)?

As for rolling, I use a GP and depend on an extended paddle roll. This would be more difficult with pogies, including (more) exposed hand and removing said hand from the pogie. I also prefer to have gloved hands "24-7" and don't miss that tactile feel some do with (especially heavy) gloves/liners. Then again, I am not readily given to delicate movements. I have developed methods to paddle in winter but do avoid the most challenging days weatherwise which is more about wind speed and staying warm overall.

    Bob,

Have you tried your GP roll with your hands in the paddling position? Easy enough to do, just a little practice and paying attention the cant of the blade. Can be done just as a euro roll can be done. Something to practice this summer for you. Let us know how it goes. :jenni:

  6. JetBoil for me...i like that i am supporting a local business and the less i have to cook, the better i like it. I keep it simple. Gourmet is for in the kitchen, not at the campsite in my oppinion. For me anyway, you are all entitled to go all out if you like... :th_thCampingSmiley:

  7. Second Suz's suggestion of using mittens. Does take awhile to get used to them, but warmer than gloves by far and will help if you swim compared to pogies.

These from Level 6 are well thought of. Greg Stamer used them for going around Newfoundland and said they kept his hands warm. They are thin and flexible compared to some of the heavy WW mitts you run across.

These are what i use...very warm. They take getting use to, but are warm indeed.

  8. At the last cold water clinic, I had my glacier gloves on and they just were not working. I've always had this problem with gloves and usually wear mittens on land.

Jason lent me one of his pogies and that hand immediately warmed up, while the gloved hand did not. I was a convert. I now have pogies - did you know they come in pink? :-)

However, it occurs to me that if you end up in the water unexpectedly and don't roll up or get back in. Your hands are going to get very cold very fast.

Does anyone who wears pogies keep a pair of gloves on their person for this eventuality?

Has anyone who wears them experienced this problem?

    Thanks,

I found mittens to be warmest...sometimes to warm, better than to cold though. I like the Kokatat gortex pogies also. when cold i use layers under them, when warmers, i just use as is.

  9. I would worry more about the seat, back band and any other cloth like material. The keel strip on the bow and stern should dry very quickly.

For white water one has to dry the boat out well or bleach it.

A big issue these days is Rock Snot:

    http://des.nh.gov/organization/commissioner/pip/factsheets/bb/documents/bb-61.pdf

When I bring my white water boat from a river with these issues, in the winter pool sessions are a good way to kill the bugs or in the summer the Cohasset wave is always a good place to expose the plant spores to a place where they can't live.

With the long boat moving from one fresh water location to the ocean might be a good rule before moving to the next fresh water location.

Thanks Jason...use a glass seat and no backband, but hear what u are saying, perhaps i am over thinking it also.

  10. It looks like you did a good job, the ripples are very minor from what I can see. I have seen many glass keel strips with worse ripples.

Thanks for the compliment, i was concerned about aquatic material getting trapped in these areas and don't want to risk getting some of the "CLEAN" lakes polluted with invasive aquatic plants, really didn't like the thought of bleaching my kayak down between bodies of water. Hoping it won't be an issue.

  11. Applied this product after taking a hit to the keel last fall ( * see Gel coat repair pictures in another thread ) It was pretty easy, i was able to do it alone. A few tricky spots as the Pilgrim has a sharp curve as does the Tideraces. Not sure , but i was told this was normal to have little ripples in a sharp curve.

  12. Had my 1st glass boat exactly 3 weeks and a friend dropped her end in a gravely parking lot (much to my horror) hunks flew off right on the stern right on the curve, i gathered all sorts of info. off the web and talked to T. Bergh and Gnarly Dog. Did my 1st repair and the color was slightly different, but it was so shiny you could hardly tell, but i then added a KeelEazy strip and it covered it. It was surprisingly easy and i felt tremendous satisfaction. A real confidence booster as well. You can always send it out if you think you messed it up.post-101421-0-56232700-1363204775_thumb.post-101421-0-10342300-1363204813_thumb.post-101421-0-87296900-1363204846_thumb.
