  1. Thanks much for the feedback.  (Peter) We'll have to compare notes on our Philip Edward Island experiences if you are able to make it happen this year.  I'm hoping for good weather and paddling conditions as that PEI area looks delightful for kayaking!

Joseph, that's interesting about Tobermory.  I almost planned to route my trip up that way instead.  The islands offshore there looked very appealing.  Perhaps a future trip will warrant it.

  2. Hey All,

I'm planning a three week road trip over in September to explore and do some day paddles and multi-day paddles in the Ontario Canada, Upper Peninsula (Michigan), and Northern Wisconsin area.  I have a few places that are high on my list to explore:

Philip Edward Island (Killarney Provincial Park - Ontario Canada) <-- multi-day trip

Pictured Rocks (Upper Peninsula - Michigan) <-- day trip

Grand Island (Upper Peninsula - MIchigan) <-- multi-day trip

Keweenaw Peninsula (Upper Peninsula - Michigan) <-- multi-day trip (but planning to do day paddles)

By the way, I'd love to do Isle Royale, but I can't pack that trip in on this go ahead.  But will definitely fit it in on a future vacation!

I am wondering if anyone on NSPN has ever visited any of these areas before and if anyone may have any advice?  Since I'm packing in so much, I'm really only planning on probably 2 nights at each of these spots and will be camping along the way.  I'd be very interested in hearing whatever recommendations anyone may have for these or other spots worth considering.  Thanks much.  I look forward to hearing from the group!

  3. I'm hoping to tackle scratch repairs that have built up on my Impex fiberglass kayaks over the past 10 years.  There are a number of scratches all over the top decks (mostly minor but lots of them).  There are also a large number of scratches along the bottom as well (no surprise there).  Some of them larger than others.  Any suggestions or resources for me to looking on learning how to do repair these myself?

  4. I'm planning several day trips in various locations in Nova Scotia (e.g. Cape Breton - Meat Cove to White Point and areas nearby, Antigonish, and Cape Chignecto).  I'm finding it difficult to track down navigation charts for these areas (online or otherwise).  Any recommendations for locating charts with sufficient detail for day trips and planning out courses to navigate?

  5. Julie and I would definitely be interested in this paddle.   Though I see the blackburn is going on at same time.  The race looks to have a staggered start according to race schedule.  Possibly an early start would avoid most of the racers?  Other ideas?  Conditions look to be very favorable for a paddle in that area.

  6. Thanks for your help.  However, I still have this same issue where the same message is displayed when I attempt to add to the cart.  There seems to be some issue with me being a past member that it doesn't like.  I was able to start to try to join as a new member, but then it complained about my email address already existing.  Seems like the only way for me to join is to create a fake email account.  Any way around this?  Is there anyway to delete all of my old membership purchases/renewals?

  7. Hello,

I have been a member of nspn for ~10 years now and have been experiencing issues with my attempts to renew my membership (my wife's as well).  When I select renew membership and attempt to add to the cart I get the following message dialog:

"You are allowed to purchase one of this product, and you have already done so."

Something must be wrong here as I've only selected one item and I seem to be unable to even locate where the cart even is in this system.  Can someone please help me out?

  8. Hello All,

I am in the process of selling my house and moving into an apartment (condo rental actually) and I am a bit concerned about the kayak storage options I'll have at my new rental for the next 1-2 years. There is a basement at this place but I'm not sure there is very easy access to actually getting my two 17 foot kayaks into this specific basement. There is a small window access from the outside into this basement and I'm crossing my fingers that I'll be able to navigate this window and finese my boats through this particular window. However, I'm tending to feel that I won't be so lucky once I start atttempting to actually do so.

Long story short, assuming I'm out of luck on this idea...what other ideas would other have regarding kayak storage for individuals living in an apartment situation. I've been searching around for storage facilities and I see that I could rent out a garage. But the cost of an entire garage seems a bit overkill for just fitting in a couple of kayaks. Anyone else ever been in a similar situation or have other ideas...I am really open to others suggestions!

    Thanks

    Dave
