Sea Kayak Guide Training Being a Registered Maine Guide is one of the most respected licensures that one can have. A Registered Maine Sea Kayak Guides License allows you to lead tidewater sea kayaking and overnight sea kayak trips in the State of Maine. Learn about Navigation, GPS, Charts, Rescues, Watercraft Laws, Trip Planning, Safety on the Ocean, Risk Management, Lost Sea Kayaker, Rules and Regulations, Marine Environment, Island Camping Techniques, Group Dynamics, Ethics, Equipment and much more. Classroom time and on water practical’s are part of this course. Content covered on the water will be: teaching paddling, rescues scenarios, practical, assessments of groups, navigation, safety, lost kayakers. This guide course provides the required tools to take the State of Maine administered Sea Kayak Guide written test and oral boards, but does not guarantee passing. State of Maine Testing fee and Licensing fees are not included with this Maine Sea Kayak Guide Preparation Course. Many people have taken this course for personal enrichment of skills with no intent to guide or sit for the test (please ask instructor on details). Prerequisite The State of Maine requires basic first aid and CPR certifications and three years of Sea Kayaking paddling experience before taking the state test for a Registered Maine Sea Kayak Guide License.
