  1. Bob, there is a parking lot right on the beach. Days are getting longer so I am planning on being out there until around 4 or 5 but that will depend upon what the group wants. I'll check for your posts tonight.

    Ross

I'd like to join you guys.

  2. Helmets are generally recommended not only for rocks and surf, but also for games that involve bumping and jumping in/out of boats, including rescue practice in any water. I did say "mandatory" but that's just because it's common practice -- it's really up to you. I'll bring a couple of loaners, and I hope others will too, so we'll have a range of sizes.

    Count me in

    Hey Sean,

I think we are all still on for tomorrow and now just trying to finalize plans. So Kettle, Cranes or Cape Ann?

    Kevin,

Who else is going? I'm not familiar with So Kettle, but we should get an early start to make it around Cape Ann before the weather really goes south in the afternoon. How strong are the other paddlers? Crane is fine for me as well just need to know where and when, the earlier the better since I'm coming from much further inland.

  4. Still would like to get a 20+ miler in; anyone think they would be up for it on Tuesday? (wx permitting)

Would like to get on the water Sunday as well; can look at options as it gets closer. (The Wx-man is only right when its predicted to do what you want it to)

Laura and I will be heading to Portsmouth (NH) early tomorrow AM for expected off the water about 1300 +/-.

    Jon

    Jon,

Are you guys still planning on paddling Sunday morning ?

    Sean

  5. Kevin,

I'm interested in joining the pod. Cape Ann sounds great, I haven't been around since the Blackburn last year but either will work for me.

Please keep me in the loop at plans unfold.

    Sean

I would be into the Cape Ann circ.

Would be a good scouting mission for the Blackburn.

I'm not familiar with Castle Neck; is this a similar length paddle?

    Jon

  6. Sunday (2/01/09) appears to be the best of the weekend. (Monday in the rain looks better but...)

I heard there is some major hockey game or something that day but would you sit on your butts in front of the radio instead of paddling?

Is anyone interested in getting on the water; maybe just to work those paddling muscles? Do a roll or two... ?

I'm thinking Portsmouth\Piscataqua area with a pretty fair tide situation on Sunday.

    Low ~ 0900

    High ~ 1500+

Temps in the 30+ range and winds < 10 kts.

I'm open to alternatives. (except sitting on my butt listening to some basketball game)

    Jon

    I'm interested as well

  7. Thanks All, for the great advice!

Hopefully with a new pair of new scissors and a little luck, I'll be ready to hit the water once the air temp is a little less Arctic. I know GoreTex is good, but the thought of paddling with ski goggles to keep my eyes from freezing shut is not overly appealing.

  8. I just purchased my first dry suit from Kokatat, and after several attempts to stretch out the neck gasket using larger and larger diameter sauce pots taking the place of my neck over night as recommended by Kokatat, I still turn dark red in the face and have a hard time swallowing water while wearing it. Any suggestions or should I take out the scissors and start cutting?

  9. We are thinking about playing in the rocks and possibly doing some surfing along the beaches. There has been some great conditions for surfing, looks like seas may be diminishing by Sat. but we will probably have something to play in. Bring helmets and and dry suits as we may practice rough water rescues and tows. Meet at Kettle Cove beach parking (Ocean St. off of 127) for butts in boats @ 10:00. Ross .

Sounds like fun! My butt hasn't been in a boat in two weeks!!!!! :computerFight:

  10. 9 or 9:30 from Pierce? Fly down to the fort, maybe stop n' play at green can 9.

Then on along Gerrish. Look for trouble on low tide -exposed ledges and at the mouth of Brave Boat.

Catch the afternoon Flood back to Pierce?

    Odiorne also an option.

    Chicken recipe negotiable.

    Peter

I've never launch for Pierce, where on the Island to you put in?

  11. launch from pavillion and head out and see what we can find to play on/in

9 o' clock leaving the beach.

back....later. bring lunch. better yet, bring me lunch. i like chicken.

    Sounds good see you there.

I'll see what I can do about the chicken my neighbor has a few, maybe one will go missing tonight
