    Skills Session - Basic Strokes and Boat Handling

    This skills session will focus on basic strokes and boat handling. We will start with overall body position in your kayak  We will achieve this through getting comfortable with the body mechanics of posture, cooperation between upper and lower body to form a C for edging and keeping loose whilst underway.     This new series of paddles provides a regular weekly opportunity for members to get on the water outside of the workweek. There is no set trip level: all skill levels are welcome. Trips will be tailored each week to the makeup of the group. If desired, opportunities for skills practice will come up naturally without a set curriculum. Practice strokes, rolls, rescues, falling out of your boat, or just watching kingfishers.  Dress for immersion.  A wetsuit is warm enough in early season, and keeps down the bruises from climbing back into your boat ten times a night.
