Eight of us set out from Pavilion Beach in Ipswich to cross the Ipswich River mouth and enter Fox Creek, out to the Essex Bay and over to Crane's back side for lunch and then headed back through the bay and up the creek for a beautiful and uneventful day on the water. Thanks to all who came with me. Here are just a few pics.

For anyone interested, I tracked our course on Google Earth, and without meandering creek data, it looks like our trip was about 12 miles long. I also tracked my trip along the front of Crane's and back to Pavilion a few days prior, and it came to 10 miles taking into consideration going around the sandbar and being pretty far out from the beach.

Fine trip. Thanks for organizing, Nancy. You did a great job communicating in advance of the trip, and shepherding once on the water.

I enjoyed the environment and the people I got to share it with. This is a classic local paddle that is always nice to revisit. The salt marshes, the serpentine channels that run through them, Essex Bay and Hog (or Choate) island are local treasures, especially sumptuous in the fall. Fortunately, we'll be back there soon, on Sept 30th for the Members General Meeting paddle.
