Kevin B (RPS Coach)
Has anyone paddled in the Chesapeake Bay area? I might have to spend six weeks this summer in southeast Pennsylvania and I'm looking for potential paddling locations to use while I'm there. Any information would be greatly appreciated!Edited to correct embarassing typo...
tvcrider
Kevin, You might want to place your inquiry out on the Chesapeake Paddlers Association Website http://www.cpakayaker.com/forums/

kate
I hail from that area. You might enjoy a circumnavigation of Eastern Neck, which is in the northern sector of the Chesapeake. Also the Havre de Grace boat launch is a popular spot for tidal-generated surfing. If you want to go further afield, try Janes Island State Park which has water trails and a campground. Bring bug spray! Also Tilghman's Island has the flavor of old Eastern Shore waterman culture. Wye Island circumnav is popular but I think it is not very scenic. Plus the ancient and immense Wye Oak was struck by lightning a few years ago so you can't even see that. Here is another website that might help, based in Philly. StormPaddle There's more than you can see in a summer. Have fun! kate

I visited the Wye Oak in the 1970s and was amazed.Liz N.
