bob budd
It was a pleasure to be among fourteen who stayed together and looked after those who were having difficulties while still allowing a few shenanigans. Some asked about the distance covered. Not that these are nautical miles as taken from the latitude scale on the inset of the chaht - "In the English measurement system, a nautical mile is 1.1508 miles, or 6,076 feet" from How Stuff Works. By the chaht (with dividers) I get 1.5 miles through the cut a Misery, 2 more to Children's, another 1 around the bend and down to Marblehead Neck, another mile down to Gerry Island and through the shallows to Dolliber Cove/Peach's Pt, 2.5 back to Misery, and 1.5 back to the harbour for a total of 9.5 miles as the gull flies. If someone had a GPS track it would more accurately depict the angles cut to cross channels and the unavoidable variations from the straight line. Also not included was the distance travelled by the rock gardenerers cycling through their favourite "chutes".

Trip Odometer 13.0 / Moving Time 4hrs/28min / Moving Average 2.9mh (Moving average tainted during stationary float time & rock play, etc) Guess we posted the miles at the same time, sorry Gene. Nice paddling with you.
