Saturday, Windmill Point, Hull, in the water to start at 1pm.

Very short - 3 1/2 mile total, out from Windmill Point, to Sheep Island and back, no open water, lots of company on the water. Very informal. If you get there and its too windy or cold, have fun just paddle around. Pray for really rough conditions and watch the race kayaks suffer!!

The real show is the old wood lifesaving row boat race, Lemans start off the beach backward requiring a 180 turn to start the row.

It will be cold, windy, so treat it like a typical winter paddle but go with an empty boat, as you'll never be more than a 1 1/2 from your car and there's a motor boat escort. Hot chowder at the barn. Park just below the windmill. Register to race in the barn, money goes to support the Life saving museum.

Those aren't old wooden lifeboats, those are mostly 6 oared Cornish gigs, most of them built in the last five years. They are fast. If you are racing find one to draft. Conditions can be entertaining. There are times I have come in with PFD fully iced up. NW breeze and crossing the Hull Gut current.

Have fun....
