Like our charts, orienteering maps are very detailed, with north magnetic lines oriented parallel to the sides of the map. Although, generally, a competitive event, no need to race through the course. Study the detailed features noted in the key, and recognize these features as you course along your chosen path, employing trails, roads, and possibly shortcuts/bushwhack to arrive @ each control.
