Daniel Carr Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 For those that may have missed John's talk, MITA is hosting another event Please join fellow MITA supporters for a special presentation, "Weather by the Seat of Your Pants," by Harvard University Professor John Huth on Wednesday, March 21st, at the MITA office in Portland. John, a long-time MITA member and veteran sea kayaker, will present a workshop on weather-related topics such as how to evaluate the approach of warm and cold fronts; cloud formations, wind, and air circulation around high and low pressure systems; and other weather signs. John's experiences exploring the Maine Coast by water helped inspire his 2015 book, The Lost Art of Finding Our Way, about pre-GPS techniques and cultures of navigation.
