A "Something" is a flexible paddle designed for any and all club members with no prescribed skill level. Our only goal is to have fun together safely! We will determine the route, distance and activities to fit the interests, comfort level and appetite for challenge of folks who come. All you need is basic equipment in safe working condition. That means a sea kayak with full deck lines and bulkheads, spray skirt, dress for immersion. Please bring a helmet if you want to play in rocks or surf.
NOTE CHANGED LOCATION AND TIME: this paddle is out of Rockport Granite Pier (see map below for location). Please arrive no later than 8:00 am for a 8:30 am launch. Yes, I know this is early: I am pushing this paddle one hour earlier than the usual Something to avoid the holiday weekend traffic to Cape Ann beaches and marinas.
The Granite Pier Drill: Parking is $10, cash only. Unload boat and gear in small lower lot adjacent to ramp, leave your stuff to one side of ramp, pay, and park on upper level.
The Something forecast calls for hot and sunny weather. In Rockport we can hope for 80 instead of the 90s forecast elsewhere. calls for mild conditions and partial sun. Southwest wind around 12 kt, so it will be windy. Swell not much to speak of but some chop will likely develop later in the day. HW 8:54am, LW 2:41pm.
