A few of us are headed out to Bangs Island on Casco Bay to help with MITA's spring cleanup. We'll be leaving Cousins Island launch at noon and heading around the south end of Great Chebeague to cross over to Bangs. The distance is a bit over 6 nm. Once there we will spend the afternoon cleaning up the winter's accumulation of trash and flotsam. We plan to camp at the north end of the island and return Sunday morning, launching probably at 10:00.
Saturday's high tide slack will be around 2 pm, Sunday's will be about quarter of 3. This means we'll be going out against the last couple hours of the flood tide Saturday and riding the flood tide back home Sunday.
This is a CAM trip. Level 3. Please check the weather and come prepared for cold water. Also bring tools for cleaning up, especially work gloves and garbage bags, and a pair of pruning shears may also come in handy.
